Antoinette Essilfie, Esq. – A Journey in Legal Excellence, Privacy Leadership & Professional Development
My career
My career began at top-tier law firms in Ghana, where I developed a strong foundation in mergers and acquisitions, corporate law, advising businesses on incorporation and compliance, commercial litigation, and international law. Eager to gain a global perspective, I earned a Master’s in Corporate Law, Commercial Law, and Trade from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
My professional journey has taken me across continents, including pivotal roles in a boutique law firm in Virginia, a data
engineering startup in Texas, and a Fortune 500 company (Shopify), where I designed a robust privacy program for onboarding third party service providers and negotiating data protection agreements. Currently, I work as a lead
counsel at Meta, navigating product teams towards developingground-breaking products that are in
compliance with global regulations.
Association
As a Fellow in Privacy with the International Association of Privacy Professionals, a member of the Women Leading Privacy Advisory Board and a current doctoral candidate at the Swiss School of Business in Geneva, my work is fueled by a passion for innovation, compliance, and ethical leadership. I am also proud to serve on the boards of Data-Ware Tech and the executive Director of the African Privacy Lawyers Association.
Beyond the legal practice
Beyond my legal practice, I am an active public speaker, sharing insights on privacy, data protection, and corporate law at international conferences and seminars. Additionally, I offer career coaching for immigrants, drawing from my own experiences to guide professionals in navigating new career landscapes and achieving their goals.
